There was this consensus: the conclave would be difficult. It turned out, however, not to. We should, nevertheless, not follow Suzana Singer, ombudsperson to Folha de S.Paulo, and regard the conclave an acceptable and invencible secrecy.
We must ask again, and this time with more elements to catch a fair answer, why is the reason for the secrecy. Something really decisive goes on during that behind-locked-doors meeting. And it is not the visit of the Holy Spirit.
Someone or a group of few come up, after the first day, with the "agenda". By the way, isn't the widespread term 'secret agenda' a byproduct of the conclave? That agenda is so impressive that even two-thirds majority is accomplished that fast. But impressive in which sense? In the sense that it involves a crucial geopolitical issue. What would that have been this time?

That goes very far away from the analyses all over the internet: the greater portion of Latin American believers, etc. etc. This is precisely what I fancy the most when it comes to the Vatican: their matters still remain beyond the reach of the mass media.
David Cameron had sealed a big partnership with Benedict XVI. The United Kingdom lost its only representative in the conclave on the eve of it. I know, under sexual misbehavior allegations. But.. was that really the truth? I seriously doubt.
Then, there had been just the consultation and the people of the island gave a 99-percent-yes response to remaining British. Coincidence? Next emerges an Argentinian Pope, and... nobody of relevance from the British monarch or government goes to his coronation. But Argentina's president hurries up and makes no secrecy of what she wants: Malvinas.
Look down to earth: the choice of the Pope is not that puzzle once you come to know what the Vatican is really all about.
