José de Souza Martins is emeritus professor at USP University of São Paulo and an author. A sociologist, he gets regularly published in O Estado de S.Paulo (news diary), his best articles being found in the Sunday section called "aliás". It is from one of those essays that we now quote him, the translation into English being our own:
The Brazil that drinks has declared war against the Brazil that works. The Brazil who is drunk is winning over the Brasil that is sober. The Brazil which is irresponsible is ahead of the Brazil which takes things seriously.
From: "Vitória do copo" [The glass' victory], O Estado de S.Paulo, "aliás", p. J6, 7.8.2011.
His articles are available online. Search for his name plus "aliás", e.g. Excellent language, reasoning, ideas.
Much of the discourse all around is power-oriented. Our texts, rather, will be appreciated by those brave enough to leave the good life of obedience in order to grow and take risks for the benefit of a multitude of others. Welcome! PORTUGUÊS acesse "apresentação do blog" abaixo
