His wife, Elize Ramos Araujo Kitano Matsunaga, has been picked up as scapegoat, contradiciting early police investigations that declared Marcos Kitano Matsunaga was kidnapped.
An article in Veja magazine, the most popular in Brazil, went online on February 13, 2012 claiming that General Mills (Haagen Dazs among other big brands) had striken a deal to buy Yoki and that its founder had decided to sell it.
In another newspaper article I learned the founder, Yoshizo Kitano, died "in the 1990s".
Marcos, the executive kidnapped and later declared murdered, was the grandson of Mr. Kitano the founder, a FGV degree-holder, and director at Yoki (initials of the founder's names)
Veja article, besides reporting the story as if Mr. Kitano was still alive, shows a last sentence that - as we now know how things developed - is amazinly curious:

Translating from Portuguese: The company, founded by Yoshizo Kitano, was on the market because it had no successors and experienced family disagreements.
Veja edition now on the stands brings Marcos's wife as a fatale woman, claims she had been a prostitute, gives details about a supposed marriage crisis no-one could ever check and, most importantly, downplays Marcos's position in the company, saying he had no influence at all in his grandfather's business.
Police department - the DHPP headed by Mr. Jorge Carrasco- disregarded any connection between Marcos tragic fate and the fact that Gemeral Mills, in a press release (also online) on May 24, announced a "definite" agreement with Yoki, via Marcos's father, who is married to one of the two daughters of Mr. Kitano.
Mr. Mitsuo Matsunaga, Marcos's father, shook hands with General Mills's Chief Operations Officer while his son was missing (if not already dead). What a macabre buyout.
Mr. Carrasco (DHPP police department in São Paulo), while disregarding all this, rushed to send to prison - without any proof - Marcos's wife, under the mere supposition of a passional crime.
In contrast with the silence of the international media, Brazilian mass communication vehicles have been working around the clock. Mr. Carrasco had no time to spare so, during the first hours (until later than 2 in the morning) of June 7, he led a massive forensic operation in the penthouse the young Matsunaga couple lived in. They married two years ago, after having a romance since 2004.
Owing to the bombastic media exposition (and its notorius failure in education), the Brazilians were convinced Elize shot, chopped up his husband with fine precision, and got rid of the parts all by herself. June 7 was the holyday of Corpus Christi.
I am sure Elize is innocent. Her daughter by Marcos Matsunaga is now, media says, being cared of by an aunt that has left Chopinzinho (a very small city), where Elize was brought up as a very good girl and student), to settle in the couple's penthouse. Elize is in prison in Itapevi, which is very far from the center of S.Paulo. Elize is totally isolated. Newspapers say not even her aunt has met Elize since she was sent to prison by Mr. Carrasco.
Carrasco is absoulutely determined the case is solved. No more investigations are needed, he proclaims. And Elize cannot leave prison in anyway. Being ironic, we wonder why.
