Roberto Laudísio Curti, 30 days after organized-crime style murder in Australia

March 18 was a Sunday. Roberto Laudísio Curti was killed in the street, by policemen, early in the morning (around 5am). In spite of even having a sister settled in Australia (married to a national), with whom he had frequent contact, the 21-year-old Brazilian left no trace of his whereabouts during Saturday night. The whole night. He was said to have attended a party, but it must be clear that is a mere supposition, derived from the fact he had plans to do so. However, no reliable account of where he was or did exists.

Everyone that voiced against the version given by Australian authorities was made to silence, including Andre Costa, vice-consul. The very family of the victim, sternly demanding clarification over the first days, as of Thursday, 22, shut up and urged all others to follow suit. The head of the family, resident of São Paulo, is an uncle whose name did not appear in the Brazilian press, as far as I could check. I got his name in a non-Brazilian source.

The newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo, by the time the family shifted its course of action, had already reported that Roberto entered a certain store - point where the story resumes after the all-mysterious night - and immediately asked for the attendant to help him for God would never forgive an omission. That undoubtedly means Roberto was already being pursued. After saying that, the report goes on, he picks the cookies. Leaves the store and soon returns to it. Did he pay for the cookies? Of course not - he was already deprived of his documents and wallet.

Since the store speaker declared not having called the police, it turns out the police had been chasing him for a while and the pack of cookies has nothing to do with that.

Who protects organized crime?

We very well understand that organized crime can easily make his family live on forever in silence, but it is shocking to see governments both sides, as well as organizations devoted to human causes, scholars, journalists - the whole society - just ignoring the mounting evidence, keeping on repeating the nonsense of the stealing of the cookies, also ready to bury the case before the victim himself.

Family, by now, must be almost grateful for the 'unexpected luck' that resulted in Roberto being located, for the lack of documents indicates that the ones who killed him did not want him to be spotted anyway.

Brazilian Congress steps forward

Wednesday, 24, the low house of Congress, through its Commission for Foreign Relations, is housing a session to gather details of the actions taken by the Brazilian government and learn about the expectations of the family. The president of the commission is Ms. Perpétua Almeida. Jornal do Brasil, the oldest Brazilian newspaper now exclusively digital, has just reported about that.

Such initiative deserves applause. However, we have all to be certain no clarification or punishment will ever follow.

And one more evidence has just emerged: the search for #parasempreBETAO, in the twitter, gives only one secondary link -  in the profile named "repórter espiã" (spy journalist) along with the message that the early tweets for that harshtag are no longer available.
