RAYMOND WHELAN TO LEAVE PRISON

A minister from Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) accepted, yesterday, a request to release Fifa's partner from jail. Estado de S.Paulo newspaper reports that minister Marco Aurelio Mello granted habeas corpus from his residence. So it is still subjected to appreciation by the body of the Court, which is likely to bend over the case not until a week at least has passed.
The same source has informed Whelan was still in the Bangu (district in Rio de Janeiro city) detention facilities by the time the paper's edition was closed yesterday.
The arrest of Whelan, director of Match, is to be taken in connection with the 'World Cup historical shame' Brazil was to face the day after the man so close to Blatter (Fifa's head) was first taken away by the police from the Copacabana Palace Hotel.
