Por que cristianismo "ariano"? O termo vem de Arius, nome de um presbítero da Igreja do Leste, que já tinha mais de 300 bispos no século IV (anos 300-399), "depois de Cristo". Arius ficou, assim, de alguma forma eternizado diante da injustiça de ter sido envenenado na véspera de reassumir seu posto na Igreja do Leste, por ordem justamente de Constantino. O chefe de Arius, que acabara de "se vender" às autoridades de Roma (futura Igreja Católica), havia mandado Arius para o exílio. Constantino reverteu isso, mandou Arius voltar. Mas... ele morreu daquele jeito, na véspera, como já dissemos. Que coisa, não?
Why the term 'Arian Christianity'? It is named after Arius, a presbyter in the Church of the East, which counted more than 300 bishops in the ce IV century. Thus Arius became somehow immortalized, in constrast with the injustice of being poisoned in the eve of resuming his post at the Church of the East, under orders of precisely Emperor Constantine. Arius' direct boss, who had just made a sordid arrangement with the Roman authorities (future Catholic Church), had sent Arius to exile. Constantine then reversed that, but... Arius is killed that way when about to resume. Horrible, isn't it?
